Serangoon Swimming Complex: Find a Swimming Coach

Serangoon, North-East Singapore

Finding a coach for Serangoon Swimming Complex

A good coach for Serangoon Swimming Complex is one whose experience, current qualifications and teaching style fit the learner. This page sets out what to ask before you book, and how we match a coach to a learner at this pool.

SwimmingCoach.sg is an independent coaching service, not the pool operator. Lessons we arrange at Serangoon Swimming Complex are provided by Swim2u Swim School, and students pay ActiveSG pool entry separately.

What to ask a swimming coach

  • Experience: how long they have taught learners of this age and level, and whether they have taught at a public pool like this one.
  • Current qualifications: which teaching certificate they hold, who issued it and when it expires.
  • First aid: whether their first-aid and CPR certification is current.
  • Lesson plan: what they will work on in the first few lessons and how they will tell you about progress.
  • Practical arrangements: meeting point, lesson length, what happens in bad weather and the make-up policy.

Qualifications we check

Qualifications differ between coaches, so we do not list one set of credentials for everyone. Before the first lesson, Swim2u confirms the assigned coach’s current teaching qualification and first-aid status. Ask us for these details and we will share them.

Safeguarding and communication

Parents and carers are welcome to watch from the poolside where the pool allows it. Tell us about any communication, sensory or medical needs when you enquire, so we can suggest a coach who suits the learner. Coaches follow the lifeguards’ and facility’s instructions at all times.

Matching a coach to the learner

We match on age, current ability, goals (such as water confidence, a first stroke, SwimSafer preparation or technique) and the days you can attend. A female coach can be requested, subject to availability. Because lessons take place in a public pool, women-only surroundings cannot be arranged.

About the pool
