Current status
Status, last checked 28 October 2026: Toa Payoh Sport Centre, including the former Toa Payoh Swimming Complex, is closed for redevelopment. ActiveSG lists the long-term closure from 31 October 2023 through 2030. No coach can teach at the former complex during the closure. Official information targets completion of the Toa Payoh Integrated Development by 2030; public opening arrangements remain subject to confirmation. Full details: Toa Payoh Swimming Complex closure guide.
Choosing a coach for a replacement pool
Choose the pool by the learner’s journey and schedule first, then the coach. Before you book, ask us to confirm in writing:
- the actual pool, day and time;
- the coach’s name and current teaching and first-aid credentials;
- whether the coach regularly teaches at that pool and knows its rules for coaches;
- the package length, the fee, whether pool admission is separate, and the weather and make-up policy.
A female coach can be requested, subject to availability. Public pools are shared spaces and are not women-only.
Bishan, Jalan Besar and CCAB compared
- Bishan Swimming Complex: 1 Bishan Street 14. Closed on Thursdays unless it is a public holiday.
- Jalan Besar Swimming Complex: 100 Tyrwhitt Road. Closed on Tuesdays unless it is a public holiday.
- MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex: 21 Evans Road.
Bishan and Jalan Besar hours were checked on ActiveSG on 28 October 2026. Check the relevant facility page for current opening hours and temporary closures before travelling. Kallang Basin Swimming Complex is not an option: it ceased operations on 1 September 2025.
SAFRA Toa Payoh is a separate venue
SAFRA Toa Payoh is a members’ club, not the former public complex. Its membership, guest access, coaching rules and charges are set by SAFRA and differ from ActiveSG pools. Check them directly with SAFRA before arranging lessons there.
